10th February, 2021With effect from 1st April, 2021, our biennial price rise will take effect. In light of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, we've decided to adopt a low rise of just under 3%, which is below cumulative inflation for the last 3 years. Prices will increase to:

Payment Processor Integration
24th April, 2020ASM now supports requesting payments from customers via email through payment processors. Initial support is provided for Stripe and PayPal. The ASM payment record will auto update with the received date, fee and transaction data when successful payment has been made by the customer.
We do not act as a middleman and you maintain your own relationship with the payment processor. We charge no fees for this integration, unlike other services that charge a percentage of your transactions.
This feature is the first building block in planned features for adoption self-checkout and online license renewals.
ASM 43
6th April, 2020ASM 43 is now available. This release adds complete Portugese, French and Hungarian translations, Python3 compatibility, record undelete, new wordkeys to output the complete medical histories, online forms can finally create animal records, new shelter view modes, users can reset their own passwords and many minor improvements were made and bugs fixed.
Hosting Price Freeze
17th March, 2020This is the normal time for our biennial price rise. Given the current state of uncertainty around the US and UK economies along with the current global pandemic, we've decided not to raise our hosting prices this year. The current hosting prices will be frozen until at least April, 2021.
ASM 2.8.16
5th October, 2019An update to the ASM 2 branch has been released. This release fixes PetFinder uploads and removes support for the defunct Pets911.com service.
ASM 42 patch
4th October, 2019ASM 42 has been patched with a fix to allow uploading to PetFinder again. To upgrade, download 42 again and copy it over your existing installation.
ASM 42
3rd June, 2019ASM 42 is available. This release adds more locales and the ability to upload pictures with online forms. The main focus has been bug fixing. MySQL users are encouraged to upgrade to this release as soon as possible due to a data destruction bug when deleting media in 41 and problems with stats on the home page.

ASM 40
2nd February, 2018ASM 40 is finally available. This release adds some new locales with better support for currencies, a javascript service to insert adoptable animals straight into your webpages and direct import from PayPal activity logs. The main focus has been refactoring and bug-fixing, improving both database and webserver performance. This has been the longest release in ASM's history, taking almost 14 months and containing 154 bug tickets!

Maddie's Pet Assistant Integration
23rd August, 2017sheltermanager now integrates with Maddie's Pet Assistant, an innovative new mobile app that supports fosterers and new adopters while giving your organisation valuable insights.
Improved Website Integration
3rd March, 2017ASM now allows you to embed your adoptable animal list straight into your website without publishing and without iframes. The style of your site is inherited and the animal list is "live" and upto date at all times. See the manual for more info.
Improved Forums and Github
17th November, 2016Our community forums were clunky, outdated, visually unappealing and at constant war with spammers. We're trying out a new system which embeds directly into our website, has anti-spam protection, allows for screenshot uploads and ties into popular social media platforms without the need for creating separate user accounts. Let us know what you think!
We've also decided to use github for hosting our source code to enable better collaboration between contributors.
Longer backup retention
10th November, 2016Storage costs have come down a lot. We are now retaining weekly database backups for 31 days. This should help a lot with those "oh no, I just deleted something I shouldn't have!" support calls.

AKC Reunite Microchip Registration
12th May, 2014ASM can now automatically register AKC Reunite microchips through the VetEnvoy service. You can signup for VetEnvoy under Publishing→Set Publishing Options. As with other microchip registration support, ASM will automatically register the chips to the new owner when animals are adopted.
SmartTag Microchip Integration
17th April, 2014ASM has been able to send tag info to SmartTag for the last four years, however we've now streamlined and improved the process to automatically register their microchips too - and it's now even easier to set up!
If your shelter uses SmartTag microchips (or doesn't but would like to), then all you need to do is give SmartTag a call/email to a get an account number.
Put that account number into ASM and it will take care of the rest - as soon as any of your animals that have been implanted with SmartTag chips or have a collar tag are rehomed, ASM will register the new owner information automatically. The service is free.

There are a number of factors that have influenced this decision:
- Our prices have remained unchanged since 2009, so inflation has eroded the value of subscription payments.
- 3 years ago, we were managing all our customer databases on a single high performance server. We're now operating a farm of 12 such servers with that number going up every few months to maintain the current levels of service.
- We've invested in other areas and services, such as extra infrastructure for hosting adoptable animals for our customers.
- Support takes up considerably more of our time than it used to. We've hired another member of staff to help make sure we still have developer time for features, improvements and bespoke reports/data imports/etc.
We think sheltermanager.com continues to represent the best value shelter management package available. So far this year alone we've added animal control, online forms, automatic microchip registration with a number of popular providers and we don't intend to stop there! Our roadmap includes more great features like volunteer time management, clinic administration, drug/stock management, purchase ordering, additional smartphone functionality and point of sale.

HomeAgain Microchip Registration
11th April, 2014ASM can now automatically register HomeAgain microchips through the VetEnvoy service. You can signup for VetEnvoy under Publishing→Set Publishing Options. Support for AKC Reunite is coming soon. As with other microchip registration support, ASM will automatically register the chips to the new owner when animals are adopted.

ASM 3.1.1
20th December, 2012ASM 3.1.1 has been released. This release adds support for the PetLink microchip service, IE10 and some cosmetic and bug fixes. A new facility allows you to set your own shelter logo and splash screens through the Extra Images page and most importantly, this release adds the ability to put additional fields on other animal and person tabs, this is our most requested feature ever, so Merry Christmas everyone!
ASM 3.1.0
26th October, 2012ASM 3.1.0 has been released. This release adds new publishers for www.helpinglostpets.com and www.meetapet.com. It also adds label printing to the mail merge facilities, new annual figures and reports, a document repository, a sample set of 4,000 names for random name generation, the ability to exclude individual images from publishers and bugfixes.
ASM 3.0.9
18th September, 2012ASM 3.0.9 has been released. This release adds the ability to exclude selected images from publishing, person merging, RTL support for Hebrew and Arabic, IP address logging for fail2ban and management tools, a recommended set of reports, Bulgarian and Bosnian translations, along with many bug fixes.

ASM 3.0.8
6th August, 2012ASM 3.0.8 has now been released and contains many bug fixes and improvements, including Norwegian language support, iPhone/Android image uploads from within the smartphone interface, default donation amounts and extra diary functions for the smartphone interface.
Facebook Sharing
29th June, 2012ASM3 running under sheltermanager.com now allows you to easily post animals to your shelter's Facebook page. Simply click the Facebook button on the animal details screen. The posted text is configurable and you can choose which Facebook feed to post to in the publishing options screen.
ASM3 Windows Update
22nd June, 2012If you downloaded and used the windows installer, you should download the latest ASM3 package as it contains a missing component from the previous installer - daily tasks for publishing and updating denormalised data. In addition, you will have to move the asm.db file from C:\Program Files\ASM to C:\Users\YOURUSER if you got an early version of the 3.0.2 installer as the old location caused problems with UAC.

Multiple Currencies

Smartphone Interface Improvements
24th November, 2011The smartphone interface now allows you to lookup and view details for any of your shelter animals. It has also been given an overhaul and ported to use JQuery Mobile. This makes the whole thing a little slicker and also adds some performance improvements.

User administration
26th October, 2011sheltermanager.com user administration is now taken care of within ASM again. There's no need to go to the my account page to add and remove users.

No more subscription management with PayPal
19th September, 2011We're no longer using the PayPal subscription system. We now have our own system, which prevents accidental payments by shelters and solves the issues involved with renewing a cancelled subscription. All existing subscriptions have been cancelled. You can now renew through the my account page.
