System Properties
Certain system properties can be set that change the behaviour of
ASM at the system level. These do not have options in the user interface
as they are not things user should generally be changing or aware
of.
To set these, they need to placed after the call to Java when ASM
starts up.
For Windows, you will need to edit the asm.bat file in Program Files\ASM.
Eg:
-
- C:\Program Files\ASM\Java\bin\java.exe -Dasm.log.debug=true -cp (etc.)
For Linux/Unix, you'll need to edit the run.sh bash script in the
asm directory (it can be found in /usr/share/asm for Debian packages).
For MacOSX, you'll need to use the terminal application and edit the
asm script in ASM.app/Content/MacOS
The system properties are:
- -Dasm.log.debug=true - Enables additional debug logging in $HOME/.asm/asm.log.
Also, turns on various advanced options, such as the System->Database
Tools->Database Copy facility to allow moving an ASM database between
different types/servers, The System->Database Tools->Database Update
tool for running batch scripts and facilities to run the Java garbage
collector.
- -Dasm.fontsize.textarea=[size] - Changes the size of the font
in text area fields (these are the large edit boxes on various screens).
Set [size] to a font size in points.
- -Dasm.shellexecute=internal - Normally, ASM will figure out if the
OS knows how to open the correct program for a file. If you set this
system option to ``internal'', ASM will let you keep a separate
list of filetypes and what program to open them with. A ``Configure
File Types'' menu option will appear under the Preferences menu to
allow editing of them.
